Kathy and Bill Tomlinson met through sailing as competitors in the Olympic Yngling Fleet at the Minnetonka Yacht Club, located on the shores of beautiful Lake Minnetonka, just west of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Now sailing together –when they can find the time– on Yngling #US275. They still enjoy sailboat racing and cruising immensely.
Here is how they got started: On a whim in 2007 they produced a backpack made of dacron/kevlar sailcloth specifically for sale at
the Opti National Championship Regatta, which was hosted by the Minnetonka Yacht Club. The bags were a hit and they completely sold out. They knew they were on to something, but life got in the way and they went back to their “day jobs”…
Given a new set of circumstances in 2012– Burned out on corporate America, they decided to create a business utilizing recycled sailboat sails and do what they love to do: designing and marketing products that they love, use and believe in. Not to mention– give a retirement life to sailboat sails that were otherwise destined for landfills or garbage burners.
